What is an AI letter writer?
An AI letter writer turns a few notes into a finished letter laid out the way a letter should be. You choose the letter type, say who it is addressed to, add a subject line and the details, and a language model writes it with a date line, a salutation, clear body paragraphs, a closing and a signature.
Letters still matter in places where email does not cut it: a leave application to HR, a complaint to a landlord or a council, a recommendation for a former student, a permission letter for a school trip, a formal request to a bank. Each of these has conventions about order, register and what to leave out. The eight types in the form (formal, informal, business, complaint, leave application, recommendation, permission and request) each steer the model toward the right structure. The model runs on the Toolz server. Your notes are sent over HTTPS, the server builds the prompt and runs Gemma 3 1B, a small open model from Google, with Ollama, and the letter streams back as it is written. The names, addresses and personal details in your letter are used to write the reply and then discarded: they are not stored or logged, not used to train any model, and not sent to any third-party AI company. It is free with no signup, within about 20 letters per 10 minutes.
Where the model does not know something, such as the date, a reference number or an address, it is told to leave a [placeholder] rather than guess. Fill those in before you send. A 1B model can still invent a detail, misread a detail you gave it or state something too strongly, so read the letter through, especially a complaint or anything with legal weight. It does not know the rules of any particular company, school or court.
You could also start from a printed template or write it yourself, which is often quicker for a two-line note. The tool earns its place when you know what you want to say but not how a letter of that kind is usually worded.

Add recipient, subject and details
Say who it is to, give a one-line subject, and list what happened, what you are asking for, dates and names. Add your name for the signature.

Replace every [placeholder], check the facts, press Redo for another wording if needed, then copy or download the .txt.
