AI Translator

An AI translator converts text from one language into another using a language model rather than word-by-word dictionary lookups. You paste a message, a paragraph or a document section, choose the source and target languages, and the model returns a translation that keeps the tone and the formatting of the original, including line breaks and lists.

This one covers 20 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Turkish, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada. A swap button flips the direction in one click, which helps when you are going back and forth in a conversation.

The translation is done by Gemma 3 1B, a small open model from Google, running with Ollama on the Toolz server. Your text is sent over HTTPS, translated, and streamed back as it is written, so nothing is downloaded to your device and it works in any modern browser, including phones. The text is used to write the translation and then discarded: it is not stored or logged, not used to train any model, and not sent to any third-party AI company or translation service. That matters for contracts, medical letters, HR messages and anything else you would rather not leave on someone else's servers.

Quality depends on the language. It is good for the major languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Turkish, Arabic and Hindi. It is noticeably weaker for lower-resource languages, Telugu, Tamil, Bengali, Urdu, Marathi and Kannada, where a 1B model makes more grammar mistakes and can drop or invent words. Idioms, humour, names and specialist terms cause most errors in every language, and a pair that does not include English is usually weaker than one that does. For legal, medical or official use, have a qualified human translator check the result.

It is free with no signup, within about 20 translations per 10 minutes, and each run takes up to 8,000 characters. The alternatives are a large commercial translator, which is often more fluent for rare languages, a bilingual colleague, or a professional translation service when accuracy carries real consequences.
