The ASCII Table is a complete reference for the American Standard Code for Information Interchange - the character-to-number mapping that underpins almost every text file, programming language, and network protocol. It lists all 128 standard ASCII codes (0–127) alongside the extended Latin-1 upper half (128–255), and for each code it shows the decimal value, the hexadecimal and octal forms, the eight-bit binary, the printable glyph or control mnemonic, the HTML entity, and a plain-language name.
ASCII assigns a unique number to each letter, digit, punctuation mark, and control signal. A capital "A" is 65, a lowercase "a" is 97, the digit "0" is 48, and a space is 32. The first 32 codes are non-printing control characters such as carriage return (13), line feed (10), and tab (9) - invisible instructions that once drove teletypes and still terminate lines and delimit fields today. This table makes every one of those values visible and searchable in one place.
Everything runs in your browser. You can filter by category, search by character, decimal, hex, or entity name, click any value to copy it, and paste your own text to see the code behind every character. Nothing is uploaded, there is no sign-up, and the whole reference keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
Strictly, ASCII is a 7-bit standard covering codes 0 to 127, and everything from 128 to 255 belongs to an extension rather than to ASCII itself. The table shows Latin-1 for that upper range, which is the most common interpretation and is not the only one: the same byte is a different character under Windows-1252, and under UTF-8 those values are not standalone characters at all but parts of multi-byte sequences. That is the source of most mojibake, where an accented letter arrives as two unrelated symbols. The first 32 codes are control characters rather than printable ones, holdovers from teleprinters, and a handful still do real work: 9 is tab, 10 is line feed, 13 is carriage return, and the difference between the last two is why text files still move badly between operating systems.
Scroll the full 0–255 table or use the category buttons to narrow it to printable characters, control codes, or the extended Latin-1 range.
Type a letter, a decimal number, a hex value like 41 or 0x41, or an entity name like "copy" to jump straight to the matching row.
Click any decimal, hex, binary, character, or HTML entity cell to copy it to your clipboard for use in code or documents.
Paste text into the encoder to see the ASCII (or Unicode) code point of every character, then copy the decimal code string.
Standard 7-bit ASCII (0–127) and the ISO 8859-1 Latin-1 upper half (128–255) in one continuous, scrollable table
Decimal, hexadecimal, octal, and eight-bit binary shown for every code, plus the HTML entity - no mental conversion needed
The invisible codes 0–31 and 127 are labelled with their mnemonics (NUL, LF, CR, ESC, DEL) and full names so you know what each one does
Find a code by its character, decimal, hex, octal, binary, or HTML entity name - "&", "38", "0x26", and "amp" all locate the ampersand
Add, subtract, multiply, and divide binary numbers, or run AND, OR, XOR, NOT, and bit shifts, with every result shown in binary, octal, decimal, and hex. 100% client-side.
Translate text to binary and binary to text, plus hexadecimal, decimal, and octal, with full UTF-8 support
Convert a decimal number to its IEEE 754 floating-point bits, or decode hex and binary back to a value. Single and double precision, with sign, exponent, and mantissa broken out.
Convert text to and from Unicode code points, HTML entities, JavaScript escapes, and CSS escapes. Emoji and astral characters handled correctly.
