A Unit Converter translates a quantity from one unit of measurement into another — 30 centimeters into inches, 180 pounds into kilograms, 25 °C into Fahrenheit, 500 megabytes into mebibytes. Behind each conversion is a fixed factor defined by international standards, and this tool applies those factors exactly rather than the rounded approximations people carry around in their heads.
The converter covers eleven categories: length, weight, temperature, area, volume, speed, time, data, pressure, energy, and angle. Within each category every unit is expressed as a ratio to a single base unit, so converting is a single multiply-and-divide with no accumulated rounding. Temperature is handled separately because Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin, and Rankine are affine scales with different zero points, not simple multiples of each other.
It runs entirely in your browser, updates as you type, and shows the value in every other unit of the category at once — so you get the answer you asked for plus the ones you were about to ask for. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored, and the tool keeps working with no network connection once the page has loaded.
Choose Length, Weight, Temperature, Area, Volume, Speed, Time, Data, Pressure, Energy, or Angle. Sensible default units are pre-selected for each one.
Type the number, then pick the unit you are converting from and the unit you want. Decimals, scientific notation, and thousands separators are all accepted.
The conversion updates as you type. Use the swap button to reverse direction, or read the "all units" panel to see the same value in every unit of the category.
Copy just the number, or the full expression such as "1 km = 0.621371 mi", and paste it straight into a doc, spreadsheet, or code comment.
Length, weight, temperature, area, volume, speed, time, data, pressure, energy, and angle — more than 100 units in total, including the ones developers actually need like CSS pixels, points, and mebibytes.
One inch is exactly 0.0254 m, one pound is exactly 0.45359237 kg, one BTU is 1055.05585262 J. The tool uses the defined values, not classroom approximations.
kB, MB, and GB (powers of 1000) sit alongside KiB, MiB, and GiB (powers of 1024), so you can finally see why a "500 GB" drive shows up as 465 GiB.
One value, every unit in the category, updated live. Useful when you are comparing options rather than converting a single known pair.
