Instagram Downloader

Save a public Instagram reel, video, photo or carousel by pasting its link. The file comes from Instagram, at the quality it was posted, with no watermark added.

What does an Instagram downloader do?

An Instagram downloader takes the link to a post and gives you the media file behind it. Instagram is built so that this is awkward on purpose: the app has a save button that bookmarks a post inside Instagram rather than putting a file on your device, and the web player streams the video without offering it. Pasting the link here reads what the platform already serves publicly and hands you the file itself.

What comes back depends on the post. A reel returns the video, usually at the resolution it was uploaded at, which is 1080 x 1920 for anything filmed on a recent phone. A feed video returns the same. A photo post returns the full-size image rather than the compressed preview the feed shows. A carousel returns each slide as its own file, because a carousel is several posts wearing one link. Where a separate audio track exists, it is offered as its own download, which is the usual reason someone wants a reel rather than the picture.

The quality is whatever Instagram holds, and no more. Instagram re-encodes everything on upload, fairly aggressively on video, so a reel that looked soft in the app will look exactly as soft in the file. No downloader can undo that, and any tool offering to "enhance" or "upscale" what it gives you is adding invention rather than detail. What this does avoid is a second round of compression: the file is copied rather than re-encoded, so it is bit for bit what the platform served.

Only public posts can be read. A private account, a post from someone who has blocked you, a story from a private profile and a deleted post all have nothing publicly visible to fetch, and no tool that works without your login can reach them. If a link needs you to be signed in to view it in a browser, it cannot be resolved here either, and the page says so rather than failing silently.

Nothing you paste is stored. The link is read, the media URLs are returned, and your recent links stay in your own browser rather than on a server. The files themselves are served straight from Instagram's own content network, so the download does not pass through this site at all.

How do I download an Instagram video?

  1. Copy the post link

In the app, tap the three dots on the post and choose Copy link. On the web, copy the URL from the address bar. Reel, post and carousel links all work.

  2. Paste it here

Drop the link into the box, or press Paste to read it from your clipboard. The tracking parameters Instagram adds to a shared link, such as igshid, are stripped before the lookup.

  3. Read the post

Press Grab video. The cover, the caption and the account appear, with one button for each file available: the video, each carousel slide, and the audio where there is one.

  4. Save the file

Click the button for the file you want. It opens in a new tab served by Instagram, where you can save it. On a phone, press and hold the video to get the save option.

Key Features

  • Reels, videos, photos and carousels

One box for every public post type. A carousel comes back as one file per slide rather than only the first one, which is where most downloaders stop

  • Original quality, nothing re-encoded

The file is copied from Instagram as served, not compressed again on the way to you, so it is exactly what the platform holds

  • No watermark added

Nothing is stamped onto the picture. A watermark already burned in by the person who posted it is part of the video and cannot be removed by any downloader

  • Audio on its own

Where a post has a separate audio track, it is offered as its own file, which is what you want when the sound is the point rather than the picture

Frequently Asked Questions

Tap the three dots on the reel and choose Copy link, paste that link into the box here, and press Grab video. The reel comes back at the resolution Instagram holds, which for a phone recording is normally 1080 x 1920. The audio track is offered separately where one exists.
