Vimeo Downloader

Save a public Vimeo video by pasting its link. Returns the renditions Vimeo serves, largest first, when the uploader has not restricted the video.

What does a Vimeo downloader do?

It reads a public Vimeo page and returns the video file behind the player. Vimeo differs from the social platforms in one way that matters: the person who uploaded the video decides whether downloading is allowed, and a good share of professional accounts turn it off. Where the uploader has enabled it, Vimeo shows its own download button, and this is unnecessary. Where they have not, there is often still a playable rendition that can be addressed.

Quality depends on what the video was published at. Vimeo is used heavily by filmmakers and agencies, so the source is frequently far better than social video: 1080p is the floor on most professional uploads and 4K is common. The renditions are listed by height with the largest first, and nothing is upscaled.

Some videos are served only as adaptive streams, where the picture is split into segments and described by a manifest rather than existing as a single file. A browser cannot save a manifest as a video, so those are not offered here rather than handing you a text file that looks like a download and is not. When a video has no single-file rendition, the page says that instead of pretending.

Privacy settings on Vimeo are unusually fine-grained. A video can be unlisted, password-protected, limited to a domain so it plays only when embedded on one particular site, or private to the account. Password-protected and private videos cannot be read without the password or the login, and a domain-limited video serves nothing when requested outside its allowed site. Those are deliberate choices by the uploader, and working around them is not something this does.

Nothing is uploaded here. The lookup returns an address on Vimeo's own network, your browser fetches from there, and your recent links stay in your browser.

How do I download a Vimeo video?

  1. Check for Vimeo's own button first

If the uploader allowed downloads, Vimeo shows a Download button under the player with its own quality choices. That is the best route and needs no tool.

  2. Otherwise copy the URL from the address bar, or the link from the share panel. A player.vimeo.com embed link works as well as a vimeo.com page link.

  3. Paste it here

Put the link in the box and press Grab video. The renditions Vimeo serves appear as buttons, labelled by height with the largest first.

  4. Save the file

Click the size you want. It opens in a new tab served by Vimeo, where your browser can save it.

Key Features

  • High-resolution sources

Vimeo carries professional uploads, so 1080p is a floor rather than a ceiling and 4K is common. Whatever exists is offered, largest first

  • Honest about adaptive streams

Some videos exist only as segmented streams a browser cannot save. Those are left out rather than handed over as a manifest file that will not play

  • Page and embed links

A vimeo.com page link and a player.vimeo.com embed link both resolve, which matters when the video is embedded on a site rather than on Vimeo itself

  • Nothing added to the file

No watermark, no re-encode, no branding. The file is what Vimeo serves

Frequently Asked Questions

Check under the player first: if the uploader allowed downloads, Vimeo offers its own button with quality options, which is the right route. Otherwise copy the link, paste it here and press Grab video. The renditions Vimeo serves appear by height with the largest first.
