What is a PNG to PDF converter?
A PNG to PDF converter places PNG images onto the pages of a PDF document, one image per page. PNG is where screenshots, exported charts, diagrams, slides saved as images and scanned pages from some scanner apps end up, and PDF is how those things are usually handed over: as a bug report attached to a ticket, a set of dashboard captures for a meeting, a proof of payment for a refund claim, or a course certificate an employer wants as a document.
The important difference from converting photos is that nothing here is compressed away. PNG is a lossless format, so every image is embedded in the PDF as PNG, pixel for pixel. Small interface text, thin chart lines and the hard edges of a diagram look exactly as they did in the original. The price is size: a PDF of PNGs is roughly as large as the PNGs themselves and can come out larger, because each image is written again through the browser canvas rather than copied. Images with 16 bits per channel come out at 8, a difference that is rarely visible in screenshots and graphics.
Transparency survives as well. A logo or icon with a transparent background keeps it inside the PDF, and the page shows through, which most viewers show as white and a printer leaves blank. That is worth checking with white artwork, which becomes invisible on a white page.
All the PNGs you add go into one PDF by default, in the order they appear in the file list, saved as images.pdf, or under the image's own name when there is only one. Tick One PDF per image for separate files. Fit to image makes each page the size of its image, one pixel to one point, so a tall scrolling screenshot stays one long, readable page. A4 and US Letter scale each image to fill the paper and center it, turning the page to landscape for a wide screenshot, and the Small margin adds a quarter inch of white around it.
Everything runs client-side: your browser decodes each PNG and builds the PDF with pdf-lib, which downloads only once you add the first PNG, and nothing is uploaded. That matters for screenshots, which catch whatever else was on screen. Images over 100 megapixels are refused rather than freezing the tab. Free, no signup, with a daily limit on conversions. Choose how the pages are sized
Keep Fit to image for screenshots read on screen, especially long scrolling captures. Pick A4 or US Letter when the PDF will be printed or needs uniform pages, and add the Small margin for a printer. Tick One PDF per image for separate files. The PDF is rebuilt each time you change one of these.
Check the page order
Each PNG is a row labeled Page 1, Page 2 and so on, and the up and down buttons on a row move it one place earlier or later. The PDF row at the top shows the page count and a note saying the images were embedded as PNG, so no detail was lost.
Download and check the size
Press Download PDF in the list header, or the download icon on the row when there is only one PNG. The size line compares the PDF with the PNGs you added; if it is too large for an attachment limit, see the tip on photos saved as PNG below.
Why convert PNG to PDF?
Screenshots are evidence, instructions and records, and they rarely travel alone. These are the cases where a single PDF does the job better than a folder of PNG files.
Screenshots as a record
A booking confirmation, a chat that settles a dispute, an order page before it changed: captured as PNGs and combined into one PDF, they become one document you can attach to a complaint, a claim or an expense report, with every word still crisp enough to read.
Step-by-step guides and bug reports
Ten screenshots of a setup process make sense only in order. As a PDF they read top to bottom like a manual, and a developer or support agent sees the steps in the sequence they happened instead of guessing from file names.
Diagrams, charts and certificates
Charts exported from a spreadsheet, a whiteboard diagram or a certificate downloaded as an image often need to be filed or printed as a document. A PDF keeps their sharp lines, because PNG pages are not re-compressed as JPEG.

Screenshots and transparency in a PDF
Screen captures are made in pixels, and PDF pages are measured in points, 72 to the inch. With Fit to image, a 1920 by 1080 screenshot becomes a page 1,920 points wide, about 27 inches, which a PDF viewer zooms to fit the window without softening anything. On A4 the same screenshot lands on a landscape page at roughly 164 pixels per inch, still sharp enough to read menu text on paper. A screenshot from a high-density laptop display carries more pixels again and prints finer.
Long scrolling screenshots are the one case where paper sizes work against you. A phone capture 1,170 pixels wide and 10,000 tall is shrunk on A4 until its height fits the page, which leaves a narrow strip of unreadably small text. Fit to image keeps it as one tall page at full width. Extremely tall captures are scaled down so no side of the page passes 200 inches, the most PDF viewers accept.
Transparent pixels are embedded as transparent, not filled with a color. The PDF page behind them is empty, so viewers show their background, almost always white, and a printer prints nothing there. A dark logo on a transparent background looks exactly right. A white logo or light text meant for a dark website disappears.
Privacy and security
- The PDF is built client-side, in your browser tab. Screenshots often show email addresses, account numbers or other open tabs, and none of it is uploaded.
- The daily limit check sends the tool name and a device identifier, plus your account token if you are signed in. After a batch, only the file count, total bytes and output format are recorded, never file names or image data.
- Converting does not hide anything inside the image. Blur or crop sensitive details before you add a screenshot, because the PDF shows every pixel of it.
- The PDF lists Toolz.dev as the program that produced it and carries no other information about you or your files.
- Images and PDFs stay in the tab's memory until you remove them, press Clear All or close the page. No copy is kept on a server.
