What is a TIFF to PDF converter?
A TIFF to PDF converter turns TIFF images, the format that document scanners, fax software and scanning archives often write, into a PDF document. TIFF is a sound format for keeping a scan, but it is awkward to share: phones and many email clients will not preview it, some browsers cannot display it, and a multi-page TIFF can open on its first page with nothing to show that more exist. A PDF opens almost everywhere and shows every page in order.
Every page survives. A multi-page TIFF, such as a 12-page fax or a scanned contract saved as one file, becomes 12 pages of the PDF in the order they are stored. Converted on its own, the result note reads "All 12 pages of the TIFF were added." Reduced-resolution thumbnail images that some scanners tuck into the file are skipped, so they do not turn up as extra pages. Add several TIFF files and they all go into one PDF, file after file in the order shown, named images.pdf. Tick One PDF per image to get one PDF per TIFF instead.
TIFF is decoded by UTIF.js, which downloads the first time you add a TIFF on this page. It reads uncompressed TIFFs and the common compression methods: LZW, ZIP (Deflate), PackBits, JPEG, and the CCITT Group 3 and Group 4 compression used for black-and-white faxes and document scans. A file using a method outside that list is refused with a message giving the compression code, rather than coming out as a black page.
TIFF is treated as a lossless source, so each page is embedded in the PDF as PNG, pixel for pixel, so small print and signatures stay as sharp as the scan. The page size setting decides how the scan sits. Fit to image gives each pixel one PDF point and ignores the resolution stored in the TIFF, so a 300 DPI scan comes out as a very large page. For printing or filing, A4 and US Letter fit each page to the paper at its full resolution, centered, with an optional quarter inch margin.
All of it runs client-side, which matters when the scans are contracts, medical forms or tax records: nothing is uploaded. TIFF files over 300 MB, TIFFs with more than 100 pages and pages over 100 megapixels are refused with a message before they can crash the tab. The tool is free, no signup, with a daily cap on conversions.
How to convert TIFF to PDF
Add your TIFF files
Drop TIF or TIFF files onto the box, or click to upload. Several files at once is fine. The TIFF decoder loads with the first file, and every page of every TIFF is decoded one at a time and added to the PDF straight away.
Pick a page size
Choose A4 or US Letter for scans of paper documents, so the PDF prints at the right size. Fit to image keeps each page the pixel size of the scan. Set Margin to Small for a quarter inch border, and tick One PDF per image to keep each TIFF separate. The PDF is rebuilt each time you change one of these.
Check the file order
Files are combined in the order of the list; use the up and down buttons on a row to move a TIFF earlier or later. A TIFF that cannot be read shows its reason on its row and is left out, while the other files still go into the PDF.
Check the page count and download
The PDF row at the top lists how many pages the PDF has and its file size. Press Download PDF in the list header, or Download All when you made one PDF per TIFF. With a single TIFF, use the download icon on its row.

Faxes and multi-page scans people can read
Fax software and many office scanners save a whole document as one multi-page TIFF. Send that file on and the recipient may see page one and never know pages two to twenty exist. As a PDF, every page is visible in the viewer's page list and scrolls in order.
Upload portals and email
E-filing systems, insurers, lenders and HR portals often ask for PDF and may not take TIFF. Converting avoids a rejected submission, and a combined PDF means one attachment instead of a folder of pages. If the result is too large for the portal, the compress PDF tool can bring it down.
Keeping scan quality intact
Converting a scan to JPG saves space by discarding detail, which shows up as smudges around small text. This converter embeds each page losslessly, so the PDF matches the TIFF. When a single small image matters more than exact detail, TIFF to JPG is the lighter option.

Scan resolution and page size
A TIFF records its pixels and, usually, the DPI it was scanned at. A PDF page is measured in points, 72 to the inch. This converter does not read the DPI value, so the page size option is what gives the PDF a physical size.
With Fit to image, one pixel becomes one point. A US Letter page scanned at 300 DPI is 2550x3300 pixels, so its PDF page comes out about 35 by 46 inches. It looks normal in a viewer that fits the page to the window, but it prints wrong and looks odd to anyone who checks the page size.
With US Letter and no margin, the same scan is drawn onto an 8.5 by 11 inch page and lands at its original 300 pixels per inch, because the pixels are embedded unchanged and only the page is sized. A4 works the same way for scans of A4 paper. Each page turns to landscape on its own if the scan is wider than it is tall.
File size is the other thing to watch. A black-and-white fax TIFF compressed with CCITT Group 4 is tiny, because that method is built for two-tone pages. Re-encoded as PNG inside the PDF, the same pages can be several times larger. That is the cost of keeping them lossless, not a fault in the conversion.
